Many people enjoy listening to podcasts. Ever since Apple came up with the idea for any individual to be able to broadcast their own show and upload it to iTunes for the world to hear, people have been creatively pursuing every topic imaginable. When Sean told me a few months ago that he, David, and Ted were going to make a podcast, I was honestly curious at what topic they would choose. I’m not quite sure how they met, but I think they lived together in a Christian co-op on campus Sean’s freshman year at OSU. So, would it be a faith-based podcast? David was a music major, so maybe a music podcast? Oh, I was so very wrong.
They have five episodes now, and I guess I can categorize their podcast as intelligent comedy. All three men are very bright, quick, and play off of each other very well. Whenever I listen, I’m not sure what I’m going to get, but I know that I will be entertained for the next 25-30 minutes. I actually laugh (out loud!) when I listen. The podcast is great to listen to when you’re commuting, or when you’re making dinner, or doing yardwork. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re doing homework or are otherwise mentally engaged, because you’ll miss the sheer genius of the dialogue.
If you would like to listen to Guten Abend (and I hope you do!), the podcast can be found on David Wright’s website at http://www.dollarsfordoughnuts.net. Here is the summation David writes on their fan page on Facebook:
Guten Abend is a “podcast” in which Messrs. Carter, O’Connell, and Wright say outlandish things in the hopes of enlightening and pleasing all of their delighted listeners.
Guten Abend is a mélange of 60 % cacao. This is how you know that it is 100 % authentic. Everything that you hear on the programme is truth at 44,100 samples per second.
